You can search for pre-existing models online and print as-is, or modify using 3D modeling software.

- Thingiverse Makerbot's searchable design library community.
- YouMagine has over 11,000 designs you can browse or search.
- Instructables has a 123D community, and you can checkout Albertsons Library's account to see what we've been making with students, faculty, and staff.
- Albertsons Library's TinkerCAD models designed by students, staff, and faculty
- 3D Warehouse Sketchup's searchable design library.
- NIH 3D Print Exchange The NIH 3D Print Exchange provides access to a community-contributed database of bioscientific 3D-printable files.
- NASA 3D Models - These .stl-formatted printable models are scaled to approximately 4 inches (100 mm) in the longest dimension.
- Radiolab's The Skull episode about the Taung Child - This is a skull with a story. Radiolab worked with folks at MakerBot and the Field Museum to get this thing scanned. The scan was refined and made more detailed (and more badass) by shootdigital.
- Smithsonian X 3D - All of these uses cases are accessible through the Beta Smithsonian X 3D Explorer, as well as videos documenting the project. For many of the 3D models, raw data can be downloaded to support further inquiry and 3D printing.
- STLfinder some are not suitable for 3D printing, but can be a place to get started.
